M&S makes big change to stores with more than 20 items affected

Anyone who shops at Marks & Spencer will know that while the quality of the food is outstanding. However, it can sometimes come with a heftier price tag compared to rival supermarkets.

But for several key weekly shop essentials, this may no longer be the case. The retailer is slashing the price of many of its vegetables in a bid to attract more family shoppers and encourage healthier eating on a budget. 15 new vegetable staples have been added to its Remarksable Value range and another seven have been added to its Dropped and Locked campaign.

An impressive 19 of the products have been reduced in price, such as 300g of chestnut mushrooms (£1.40 to £1.30) and 600g of leeks (£2.20 to £1.90).

If you want to keep the cost of the weekly shop down, the Remarksable Value range is ideal, as it’s benchmarked against competitors, reports the Grocer.

M&S Food MD Alex Freudmann said: “Families want to eat well without paying more, and vegetables are at the heart of the weekly shop.

“By lowering prices on everyday veg staples, we’re making it easier for more families to shop M&S as part of their weekly shop as we double the size of M&S Food.”

Here’s a full list of the products that have been added to the value range or have been reduced in price.

Meanwhile, M&S shoppers have also benefited from a revamp of the Sparks rewards app, bringing with it even bigger savings opportunities. Customers will be able to build cash in their new digital Sparks wallet, accessible via the M&S app, by spending a set amount across various product categories.

The offers will rotate weekly depending on shopping habits. For instance, customers could earn £10 into their Sparks wallet by spending £50 on fashion, home and beauty, or £6 when purchasing £30 worth of nightwear.

M&S has confirmed it has listened to customer feedback and will be keeping several of its existing Sparks perks, including free birthday treats, coffee stamps that reward shoppers with a complimentary drink after six purchases, exclusive currency rates and discounts on insurance policies.
