Woman slams parking demand of neighbour who ‘doesn’t get the word no’

A frustrated woman has hit out at her “entitled” neighbours after they repeatedly tried to take over her private parking spaces for their own convenience.

Like many people who deal with parking disputes, she found herself in an ongoing battle shortly after moving into her new home – which came with a driveway big enough for three cars.

According to her, the problems began almost immediately when neighbours noticed she wasn’t using every space and started giving her disapproving looks.

She claimed they quickly began pestering her, asking whether she really needed all the spots, despite them being clearly part of her property.

The woman said: “From the very beginning, both neighbours next to us started hounding us about whether we were going to use all of our parking spaces. Our house has an extended three-space lot at the back.”

Even after repeatedly telling them no, the requests didn’t stop – eventually forcing her to contact her landlord, who stepped in to put an end to the constant badgering.

However, the situation soon escalated.

She explained: “About two weeks ago, my family and I went out shopping. When we came back, we found a large truck trying to manoeuvre a trailer through the alley near our spaces.

“It blocked us from getting in, and we sat there for a good 10 minutes watching them slowly reverse the trailer into one of our parking spots.”

When she challenged the workers, one of them told her they had been given permission to park there by a neighbour – something she quickly shut down.

“He looked shocked and said, ‘Oh, the lady said we could park here,’” she recalled, adding that no one had asked her directly at any point.

After the truck moved, she thought the issue was resolved – but just minutes later, a neighbour approached her to ask, once again, if they could use the space.

The neighbour claimed ongoing landscaping work meant she couldn’t access her own driveway, and even tried to guilt her by suggesting she wasn’t being “very neighbourly” for refusing.

But the homeowner stood firm.

She said: “You’re mad because you thought you could use someone else’s property without their knowledge or consent, and then play the victim when you’re told no. Grow up.”

The neighbour reportedly stormed off after not getting her way, and the woman contacted her landlord again to ensure there was no misunderstanding about who had rights to the parking spaces.

Sharing her story online, she received plenty of support – and a few cheeky suggestions too.

One person joked: “I’d be petty and park across all three spaces every time just to make a point.”

Another added: “Some people just can’t take no for an answer. Your neighbours sound incredibly entitled.”

A third pointed out: “If those spaces are included in your rental agreement, they’re yours – your landlord can’t just give them away to someone else.”
