Urgent ‘do not use’ warnings for burgers, porridges and board games

This week, a series of product and food recalls have been announced, with customers alerted about the potential hazards. There have been numerous recalls that could present a health risk.

A popular type of porridge has been withdrawn from shelves, and customers have been advised not to eat it due to a mouse contamination. Meanwhile, a packaging mistake has resulted in the wrong food product being substituted for another. Products have also been recalled, including a fake Labubu toy, board game and cleanser.

Heck, which is for its pork and chicken sausages and burgers, has confirmed that a batch of one of its burgers has been removed from shelves following a packaging error.

The brand, which is stocked at major supermarkets, clarified that certain batches of the Heck Minted Lamb Burgers had been replaced with a completely different product.

The affected batches were mistakenly packaged with Heck Steak and Butter Burger, while displaying the Minted Lamb sleeve. Shoppers who have bought the affected batch are being urged not to consume them, especially those with an allergy or intolerance to milk.

Board game

Mölnlycke Health Care is recalling three batches of Hibiwash, which is stocked in major retailers such as Boots and Superdrug.

Contamination with Burkholderia cepacia was detected at a manufacturing facility during standard weekly monitoring. The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) stated that no reports of harm stemming from the contamination have emerged and the risk remains low.

It continued: “The risk from Burkholderia cepacia is very low for most people, but some patient groups are at a higher risk and may be more vulnerable to infection. This includes patients who have cystic fibrosis or are awaiting lung transplant.”

Green Labubu-style soft-filled toy

A counterfeit Labubu has been recalled (Image: OPSS)

This week, the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) released a product recall notice for a counterfeit Labubu. The toy is described as a green Labubu-style soft-filled toy with rotating tail (pull cord), roughly 17cm in height.

The OPSS stated: “The product presents a serious risk of choking as the keyring attachment and right foot can easily detach. This creates a small part which fits entirely within a small parts cylinder.

“The small parts pose a choking hazard to young children, particularly those under 36 months of age who have a natural tendency to explore objects by placing them in their mouths.” Consequently, the OPSS confirmed the products have been withdrawn from sale by the local distributor.
