House Majority Leader Steve Scalise was spotted enjoying a beach vacation on Friday as D.C. remains embroiled in a Homeland Security budget shutdown and the U.S.-led war with Iran continues to escalate. Photos published by TMZ show the Louisiana Republican leaving a seafood market in Orange Beach, Alabama, with a bag of food, flanked by security and a driver. A spokesperson for Scalise told TMZ that Democrats were to blame for the shutdown and said House Republicans had voted four times to fully fund DHS, and would do so again once Congress returns from recess. President Trump has tried to patch over the fallout by ordering pay restored for TSA workers and, more recently, all DHS employees. But the shutdown has dragged on for weeks with Congress still away and no full funding fix in place. Meanwhile, a number of Trump allies have been seen enjoying their time off, including warmongering Sen. Lindsey Graham, who was seen riding Space Mountain at Walt Disney World, and GOP Rep. John James, who was caught pretending he was at a Tigers game in Detroit not long after he was seen in Turks and Caicos.
